Dasio

It is the highest hamlet in Valsolda (580 m. above s.l.) and is situated along the route which links Valsolda with Val Rezzo via the Passo Stretto. This same route was once used by the Roman army as it connects Lake Como with Lake Lugano.  The municipal road, built after the first World War to connect the upper hamlets with the main road along the lake, ends at Dasio. This hamlet can also be reached on foot in about 20 minutes starting from the churchyard in Puria , with a pleasant walk, though at times rather steep.
Overlooking the square of the church of St. Bernardine , one notices the house, once an inn, where Antonio Fogazzaro , the famous poet and writer who lived beween the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, wrote his last novel ”Leila”.
